Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)

A group of infections transmitted through sexual contact—oral, vaginal, or anal—via semen, vaginal fluids, blood, or other bodily fluids.

Examples:

• Syphilis (Treponema pallidum)
  
• Gonorrhea (Neisseria gonorrhoeae)
  
• Chlamydia (Chlamydia trachomatis)
  

Also called sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Regular testing is recommended, as many STIs can be asymptomatic.
