Gastrointestinal Infections
These infections can be caused by various pathogens, but viruses are the most common—especially in children—leading to diarrhea, loose stools, and gastroenteritis. Frequently implicated viruses include rotavirus, adenovirus, norovirus, and enterovirus. Bacterial causes are less common but include Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), which is associated with gastritis.
